seaQuest DSV is an American science fiction television series created by Rockne S. O’Bannon. It originally aired on NBC between 1993 and 1996. In its final season, it was renamed seaQuest 2032. Set in “the near future”, seaQuest mixes high drama with realistic scientific fiction.[4] It stars Roy Scheider as Nathan Bridger, captain of the high-tech submarine seaQuest DSV 4600, Jonathan Brandis as Lucas Wolenczak, a teenaged computer genius, Stephanie Beacham as Kristin Westphalen, the chief medical officer and head of the seaQuest science department, and Michael Ironside, later captain of the vessel. Steven Spielberg expressed interest in the project and served as one of the show’s executive producers during the first two seasons.

  1. Roy may have made the connection to 21 jump street because of Peter Deluise who joined SeaQuest DSV in season 2 but who was previously on jump street.

  2. I haven’t had the chance to listen to this episode yet but watching the pilot I was left with 2 thoughts.

    I was reminded of how as a child this was one of the few sci-fi shows that the family sat down to watch.

    As an adult I was reminded why I don’t like utopian sci-fi. The bad guys are all cliche and the only drama is the angst the good guys have when they are forced to deal with a real world where bad guys exist.

  3. I found it odd how this was not the first time Roy Scheider acted with dolphins. He had a dolphin pool inside his house in the movie 2010. I wonder if he had that in his contract “I only work with sea creatures.”

  4. I just finished warching season 1 & 2, Scheider was rigth! I one this crap on DVD, was the CG realy that bad in the 90s? And why dous the one chick have 2 whear that red dicky? There were alot of almost good epsoides, but this wird thing starts haping where you cant help but keep looking, becouse you get into the mindset of it has to get better, it never dous.
